- If you have caught the collecting bug and are fortunate enough
to be heading south to the Sunshine State for a break this winter,
here is our list of some antique shows, flea markets and antique
related events you might want to check out.

- Take your best negotiating skills, break open the piggy bank
and go for it. As was true last year, the Canadian dollar is
close to par with the U.S. dollar so there is little need to
do those discouraging conversions in your head.

- Oh, and if you are longing for a good yard sale, keep in
mind that Floridians have them just about any day of the week,
as long as the sun is shining. Check out the local papers.

- Get ready to kick the sand off your sneakers, get out the
sunscreen and go find some great stuff! Have a safe trip.

- Some fabulous Florida flea markets
- St. Augustine: St. Johns Marketplace, located
mid-way between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, just off I-95
at exit 311. A large flea market inside and out selling both
new and used items as well as antiques and collectibles. Visible
from I-95. St. Augustine also offers a good selection of antique
shops in the downtown area.

- Daytona Beach: Daytona Flea Market, 1425 Tomka Farms
Rd. at the corner of Hwy.92 and I-95. One mile west of the Daytona
Speedway. Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 8am-5pm, year round
market with up to 600 vendors.

- Cocoa: Space Coast Frontenac Flea Market, on US #1
mid-way between Titusville and Cocoa. Great prices on new and
used products and collectibles. Open 8am-4pm Friday, Saturday
and Sunday. Several interesting antique stores are located in
the historic Cocoa Village.

- Fort Lauderdale: Thunderbird Swap Meet, 3121 W. Sunrise
Blvd. Approximately 1,200 dealers. Open 7am6pm Wednesday
thru Sunday. 15 restaurants. 800-345-swap.

- St. Petersburg: Pinellas Park Wagon Wheel Flea Market,
5 miles west of I-275 at 7801 Park Blvd. Over 80 acres inside
and out. New, used and lots of antiques and collectibles. Open
Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. 727-554-5319. Next to the
Mustang Flea Market, open Saturdays and Sundays.

- Deland: Volusia County Farmers Market, 3000 East New
York (Hwy 44) at the Deland fairgrounds. Lots of antiques and
collectibles, 400 to 500 vendors selling junk to treasures. Large
fruit and veggie market. Open Wednesdays 6am-noon.

- Webster: One of Floridas oldest and largest
flea markets and one of our favourites. Open Mondays only 6am-2pm
on 50 acres with over 1,200 vendors offering a great selection
of collectibles and antiques. Large farmers market with fresh
local produce and also new merchandise. Take exit 309 from I-75

- Mount Dora: 20651 US Highway 441, Mt. Dora, 30 minutes
north of Orlando. Rated in the Top 10 USA flea markets by USA
Today and the Washington Post. 200 inside vendors and 1,200 outdoor
vendors on Extravaganza Weekends. (Jan 20-22 and Feb 17-19).

- Waldo: Waldo Farmers and Flea Market. From I-75 take
exit 358 and go east on Hwy.326 to Hwy. 301, continue north to
17805 US Hwy. 301 just north of Waldo. Flea market open 8am-4pm
Saturdays and Sundays. Waldo Antique Mall is open 7 days a week
9am-6pm, 20,000 square feet of antiques and collectibles on two

- Lecanto: Cowboy Junction Flea Market, located at 3949
W. Hwy. 44 and junction 490, Lecanto. Open Tuesdays. Good place
to deal. Vendors start setting up at 5:30am-6am.

to the I-75 (exit 354) at Hwy. 27. Open Fridays 9am-2pm, Saturday
and Sunday 9am-4pm. Averaging 10,000 visitors every weekend.
